Briefly, for each Nutraplex reaction, the cycle at which fluorescence signal rises above background fluorescence is determined and is called the “crossing point” (Cp value). The Cp assignment will occur at an earlier cycle for samples containing high levels of target organisms.

A Paradigm Shift in Microbial Quality

Traditional singleplex molecular assays are slower and have less accuracy across the diverse range of nutraceutical matrices. Nutraplex is a multiplex assay that simultaneously detects Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp. and Staphylococcus aureus from a single universal enrichment in 24 hours. It also meets the needs of USP <2022> across a wide variety of challenging nutraceutical matrices, while improving overall efficiencies. 

This method reduces incubation time, hands-on time, and is in the process of being validated to be certified as an AOAC method for microbiological analysis.

nutraPRO Assay Principles

The nutraPRO assay is a real-time PCR assay for the detection of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella spp. in various nutraceutical matrices. The nutraPRO assay utilizes a multiplex detection method that targets Escherichia coli on the HEX channel, Staphylococcus aureus on the ROX channel, and Salmonella spp. on the Cy5 channel. Additionally, the assay has an internal amplification control (IAC) on the Cy5.5 channel. nutraPRO couples the advantages of the real-time PCR format with a streamlined enrichment and sampling protocol which requires no DNA purification, complicated end-user manipulations, or data analysis, in a cost-efficient format and provides results in under 3-hours post-enrichment.
